Alameda County District Attorney’s Office Charges Oakland Man With Murder And Attempted Murder

Oakland, CA. August 17, 2023 – The Alameda County District Attorney’s Office has filed charges against 27 year old Juan Lopez in relation to two separate shooting incidents that occurred on 10/28/22 an hour apart at two separate locations.  Mr. Lopez is facing charges of murder, possession of a firearm by a felon, and two counts of attempted murder. His sentencing exposure is 45 years to life plus an additional 5 years and 4 months.

The first incident took place in the 1400 block of 103rd Avenue at 7:46pm. Investigators say Lopez opened fired on another man, hitting him in the wrist and thigh.

The second incident occurred at 8:37pm at Ali Baba’s Bong and Clothing Shop, located at 10220 International Blvd. Investigators say Lopez shot 25 year old Pablo Garcia multiple times and shot a witness who tried to protect him in the leg. Garcia died at the scene.

“We extend our deepest condolences to the loved ones of Pablo Garcia and the other victims involved in these tragic events,” said Alameda County District Attorney Pamela Price. “Our office has worked diligently to bring resolution to this case and hold Mr. Lopez accountable for his violent crimes in our community.”
